19. Infotainment at an abandoned quarry: Kampung Batu Malakasari
Once an abandoned small quarry in Padalarang, Kampung Batu Malakasari has been built into a family-friendly play park around the landscape by its founders, leaving the beauty of the natural scenery intact.
Take a canoe ride across a lake surrounded by jagged rocks – don’t they remind you of the magnificence of the way natural landforms are made through tectonic plate movements?
Not big on Geography? Opt for a tour guide who can illustrate to you the many wonders of nature, and allow the kids to gain much knowledge and fun as well.
In one of the games, you can get down and dirty with the kids with farming and rearing animals, including chickens, cows, and deer. Observe how even the smallest of organism plays an important role in keeping the ecosystem balanced.
It’s also a good chance to educate your kids on Sudanese traditions, through traditional dances and games that emphasize the importance of respecting the environment – which is often lacking nowadays.
The Kampung Batu Malakasari also comes with the Tectona Waterpark, which is complete with swimming areas for children of all ages. Don’t worry, there are lifeguards and paramedics on standby ensuring the safety of your kids.
20. ‘Work’ on a farm at the Jendela Alam Farm
There are several attractions in Bandung that offer farm-related activities, which allow visitors to interact directly with animals or plant and harvest farm crops.
But the Jendela Alam (‘Nature’s Window’) farm is one of the first and most complete of them all.
Located on Jl. Sersan Baijuri, Lembang, where an actual farm might be, you can roam this hillside farmland with your children and meet the usual and not-so-usual animals, with some from neighbouring countries! Visitors also get a chance to clean, feed, and even milk the animals.
Learn about traditional farming methods using shovels and rakes while literally getting your hands dirty, and even modern farming techniques such as hydroponics and aquaponics.
Who knows, you may even get inspired to plant your own vegetables back home, and you’ll learn how you can do so!
21. Feed the deer and camp at Ranca Upas, Ciwidey
Do you know that other than the white lake (Kawah Putih) at Ciwidey, you can also visit the Deer Conservation Park and Camping Ground at Ranca Upas?
